About Me
I am a professional proofreader and studied with the College of Media and Publishing (CMP). After a long period of trying to be a square peg in a round hole, I followed my heart and took a proofreading course, passing with the highest grade. I love books, and it is a privilege to help others in the writing process. I am neurodivergent and passionate about mental health. My book interests include: psychology, self-help, fiction, health and wellbeing, and biographies.
WHY New Beginnings?
I settled on the name “New Beginnings Proofreading and Editing, after a time of huge change and upheaval. One could call it “a midlife crisis”. However, with challenge comes opportunity, and a chance to start over from scratch. It is indeed a time of new beginnings. I became a qualified proofreader and editor during this time, and provide freelance editorial services.
My Skills
I have always had strong writing and numerical skills; maybe this is partly due to my neurodiverse brain! I refine writing so that the book is able to convey its message more clearly. I am always learning; there is so much to the English language. I am able to provide neurodivergent writer support, and have understanding of mental health challenges through personal experience.
I’m a sucker for fine words. The world needs more of them.
