What I Do
Proofreading only
Best for: manuscripts that are almost finished and just need a final check.
I carefully read through your work and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and grammar. This is ideal for writers who are confident in their structure and style but want a professional eye to catch anything that may have been missed. It is perfect for self-publishing authors who want their book to meet a professional standard before release.
Light editing
Best for: writing that’s in good shape but could use some gentle refinement.
As well as proofreading for errors, I make minimal amendments to improve the flow and clarity of your writing. This is great for writers who have a strong voice and just need a little help smoothing out the rough edges — whether that’s a novel, or non-fiction book.
Medium editing (line editing)
Best for: writing that needs more structural attention.
This goes deeper than a proofread. I correct errors, refine your sentences, remove repetitive wording and phrases, and improve the overall readability of your text. This is similar to what’s known in the publishing industry as line editing or copy editing, and is ideal for writers who know their story is strong but feel the writing itself needs more work.
Heavy editing
Best for: early drafts or writing that needs significant refinement.
This is the most comprehensive service I offer. I work through your manuscript thoroughly, correcting errors, restructuring sentences, cutting repetition, and refining the text so that your message or story comes through as clearly and powerfully as possible. This is ideal for writers who have a great idea but struggle to get it onto the page the way they envision it.
