Introduction – My name is Andy Bowker, and I operate as a sole trader. I respect your privacy and am committed to protecting any personal information and manuscript materials you share with me through my editing and proofreading services. I will never share any of your written material, either in person or online, unless given explicit consent to do so.
Information I collect – I will collect your email address, either from a contact form or a direct email. I will never share your email with anyone, unless it is required for professional purposes (and agreed to by you). I will not need your phone number for proofreading and editing purposes, but should you wish to communicate by phone, then I will collect your phone number. I will also obtain your written material. As per the above in “Introduction”, I will not share this.
How this information is used – I will primarily communicate via email, but also by phone, if agreed. I will provide an agreed service of proofreading and editing for your written material, and submit the amended version to you once finished. I will use email for sending invoices and payment requests.
Confidentiality of client work – I will access your written material for proofreading and editing purposes only.
Email database – At present, I do not have a database, and have no plans to do so, for the immediate future. If this changes, I will suitably amend this policy.
Data Retention – Files of your written work will be permanently deleted once your material is released as a book. If you wish for me to delete this information prior to releasing your book, please notify me. Should we remain in touch, I will keep your email address. If not, I will delete your email address from my records within six months of your book being published. If you wish for me to delete any personal data, please message me at: [email protected].
Your Rights – You are within your rights to know of any personal details I may hold about you. You may also request to correct or delete any personal data I may hold, in accordance with GDPR policies and procedures.
